Crawford County, Missouri

Crawford County is deep in the Ozarks. It’s a place where the hills roll on forever and clear streams cut through ancient rock. Steelville, the county seat, calls itself the “Float Capital of Missouri.”
Folks come from all over to paddle the Meramec River on hot summer days. Crawford County sits in the east-central part of the state, about halfway between St. Louis and Springfield.
It’s mostly rural, with small towns scattered through the valleys. Hunting is big here especially during deer season. Steelville, Cuba, and Bourbon are the main urban areas.
