Comanche County sits in north-central Texas. It’s named after the Comanche people who once roamed these parts. Comanche is the county seat, situated on U.S. Highway 67.
Peanuts and cattle are the main industries here. The Leon River cuts through the county, offering some good fishing spots. Proctor Lake is a popular weekend getaway.
The De Leon Peach and Melon Festival is a big deal every August. Folks come from all over. It’s quiet most of the time. But rodeo season brings some excitement. The landscape is a mix of rolling hills and prairie.
