Erath County, Texas

Erath County is in north central Texas, about 100 miles southwest of Dallas. It’s where the Bosque River winds its way through rolling hills. Stephenville, the county seat, is known as the “Cowboy Capital of the World”. No joke. This place takes its rodeos seriously.
Dairy farms are a common sight here. In fact, Erath is one of Texas’ top milk-producing counties. It’s not all cows and cowboys, though. The county’s history runs deep, with tales of Comanche raids and frontier life.
Proctor Lake, on the county’s western edge, is a favorite spot for fishing and boating. Tarleton State University brings academic folks to the area. Dublin, another town in Erath, used to be famous for its unique Dr Pepper recipe. Small-town charm meets big Texas spirit here.
