Crisp County, Georgia

Crisp County sits in south-central Georgia, about halfway between Macon and Albany. It’s named after Charles Frederick Crisp, a 19th-century Georgia congressman.
One of the county’s claim to fame is Lake Blackshear, which is the western border. The Georgia Veterans State Park offers camping, golf, and a military museum.
Crisp County is largely agricultural, with cotton and peanuts as major crops. Cordele, the county seat, calls itself the “Watermelon Capital of the World”. The SAM Shortline Excursion Train takes visitors on scenic rides through the area.
