Turner County, Georgia

Turner County is in the middle of the state’s southern region, surrounded by farmland. Overall, agriculture rules here. Crops include peanuts, cotton, and pecans.
Ashburn, the county seat, is known as the “Peanut Capital of the World”. You can’t miss the giant peanut monument on I-75. Plus, the Annual Fire Ant Festival is a big deal.
The county’s named after Henry Gray Turner, a Confederate soldier turned congressman. It has lots of good lakes for fishing if you know where to look. It’s quiet, sure, but that’s the point. Turner County doesn’t put on airs. It is what it is, take it or leave it.
