Houston County, Alabama
Houston County sits in the southeastern corner of Alabama, with Dothan as its largest city and county seat. About 108,000 people live here, making it one of the more populous counties in the area.
Dothan earns its nickname as the “Peanut Capital of the World,” processing a quarter of all peanuts in the United States. The National Peanut Festival each fall draws huge crowds. There’s also a big peanut monument near Dothan. Because why not?
Adventurers might enjoy Chattahoochee State Park along the river. The Wiregrass Museum of Art adds a touch of culture to the area. U.S. Highway 231 and U.S. Highway 84 both cross here. This makes it a hub for travel and commerce.
