Blount County, Alabama

Blount County is in north-central Alabama, part of the Birmingham metro area. Oneonta is the biggest town. Blount was named after a Tennessee governor. About 60,000 people live here.
The county’s called the “Covered Bridge Capital of Alabama.” Three of these old bridges are still standing. Go figure.
The southern end is more suburban, while the north is pure Appalachian foothills. Rickwood Caverns State Park is a cool spot to explore underground. No major interstates, but U.S. Highway 231 cuts through.
