Chilton County, Alabama

Chilton County is dead center in Alabama. Clanton is the county seat with about 45,000 people living here. The county was named after William Parish Chilton, an American politician from 1861 to 1862.
Peaches are the real deal in this county. They even have a giant peach water tower. I-65 cuts through, bringing peach-hungry travelers. Every June, they throw a Peach Festival. Peach queen, peach parade, peach everything.
There’s more than fruit, though. Both Lay Lake and the Coosa River are good for fishing and weekend fun. Confederate Memorial Park is there too, which gives you a part of American history to remember.
