Houston County, Texas

Houston Location Map Texas

The funny thing about Houston County and is that it doesn’t hold the city of Houston. Not even a square inch of it. Instead, that would belong to Harris County, Texas. Just in case you were wondering.

Houston County is the third oldest county in Texas, established back in 1837. It’s located in the eastern part of the state, not far from the Louisiana border. Crockett, named after Davy Crockett, serves as the county seat.

The area’s known for its pine forests and rolling hills. Hunting is a big deal here. So is the annual Fiddlers Festival in Lovelady. The county has a small-town feel, even in Crockett. Farming and timber are still important to the local economy. Folks here in Houston County are proud of their Texas heritage.
