Jasper County, Texas

Jasper County is deep in the Piney Woods of East Texas. It’s where the air smells of pine and history runs deep. Jasper, the county seat, has a small-town charm that’s hard to resist.
But don’t let the quiet fool you. This place has seen its share of action, from the Republic of Texas days to the Civil Rights era. Today, it’s a mix of old and new. Timber is still big business, but tourism’s growing too.
The county has two huge reservoirs – Sam Rayburn and B.A. Steinhagen. But both are only partially in the county. Fishermen love it here. The Big Thicket National Preserve spills into the county, offering a unique ecosystem to explore.
