Jones County, Texas

Jones County sits in the heart of West Texas. Anson, the county seat, is famous for its Cowboys’ Christmas Ball. It’s been happening since 1885. The county has seen boom and bust. Oil, cotton, wind energy. They’ve all left their mark.
Fort Phantom Hill stands as a ghostly reminder of frontier days. Its stone chimneys rise from the prairie like ancient monuments. Abilene is right next door, but Jones County moves at its own pace.
Ranching and farming are still a way of life here. The landscape is rugged but beautiful. Mesas and rolling plains stretch as far as the eye can see. Folks here are friendly, but tough. They have to be. West Texas weather doesn’t cut anyone any slack.
