Lafayette County is located just east of Kansas City in the heart of the state’s western region. This western Missouri county boasts some of the most fertile soil in the state.
The Missouri River forms its northern border, adding to the scenic appeal. Agriculture is king here with festivals and events celebrating everything from apples to antiques.
Lexington is the county seat and it’s chock-full of Civil War history. You can still see cannonballs lodged in the courthouse columns.
