Pettis County, Missouri

Central Missouri is home to Pettis County. Sedalia is its biggest city and county seat. It’s known for hosting the Missouri State Fair every August.
The county’s got a mix of prairie and forest so you can find some nice hiking trails if you look. Pettis County has a strong railroad history. These days, manufacturing and agriculture drive the local economy. Cattle ranching is also big here.
The county was founded in 1833. It’s named after Spencer Pettis, a Missouri congressman who died in a duel. Whiteman Air Force Base is also nearby, so you might see a stealth bomber fly over.
