Lavaca County, Texas

Lavaca County sits southeast of San Antonio, in the coastal plains region. The county is named after the Lavaca River, which means “cow” in Spanish. Fitting, since cattle ranching is still a big deal.
Hallettsville, the county seat, hosts the state championship domino tournament every year. It’s serious business. There’s also Shiner Brewery in, yep, you guessed it… Shiner, Texas.
The county has its share of quirky attractions too. There’s a replica of the Statue of Liberty in Hallettsville. Why? Why not? That’s just how they roll in Lavaca County.
