Lewis County, Missouri

Lewis County is tucked away in the northeast corner of Missouri. It’s situated right along the Mississippi River, bordering Illinois. It’s a small place, population-wise. It has barely 10,000 people.
But what it lacks in people, it makes up for in history and natural beauty. The county seat, Monticello, sounds fancy but it’s a tiny town of about 100 folks. Don’t expect big city amenities here.
There’s lots of farming here. The county’s got some nice spots for fishing and hunting if that’s your thing. And history nerds might get a kick out of the fact that the famous Lewis and Clark expedition passed through here back in 1804.
