Adams County sits on the western edge of Illinois, right along the Mississippi River. Quincy is the county seat, which is a mid-sized city with a lot of history.
The county has a mix of rolling hills and flat farmland. It’s pretty diverse with corn and soybeans as the main crops here. You’ll see fields stretching for miles. The Mississippi River shapes life in the county. It’s great for fishing and boating with typical Midwest weather.
The county is named after John Quincy Adams, which was founded back in 1825. Quincy is known for its beautiful old architecture so you’ll see lots of Victorian mansions. The county has a strong German heritage. You can still see it in some of the local traditions.
