Live Oak County, Texas

The name says it all. Live Oak County is all about the trees. These gnarly oaks cover the landscape, giving the county its distinctive look. The Nueces River also flows through here, popular for fishing and kayaking.
Live Oak County is in South Texas, between San Antonio and Corpus Christi. George West is the county seat, named after a cattle baron who founded the town.
Oil and gas are big industries, but ranching still plays a big role. The county has a rich history. It was once part of the Wild Horse Desert, where mustangs roamed free. These days, it’s a bit tamer.
