The county is named after San Patricio de Hibernia – Saint Patrick of Ireland. It was founded by Irish immigrants in the 1800s. Mathis Lake is a favorite spot for fishing and water sports. The county seat is Sinton, a small town with a lot of heart.
Bird watchers flock to the area. It’s on a major migration route. The beaches of Corpus Christi are just a short drive away. Industry is growing in San Patricio County. But it still feels like old Texas.
