Clay County, Arkansas

Clay County straddles the Missouri border in northeast Arkansas. It’s split into two districts, with Piggott and Corning sharing county seat duties.
The flat farmland here produces bumper crops of rice, soybeans, and cotton. Dave Donaldson Wildlife Management Area is a nice place to relax and catch a catfish.
Piggott has a bit of an unexpected claim to fame. Ernest Hemingway wrote parts of “A Farewell to Arms” at the Arkansas Delta. You can still tour the house today.
