Parmer County, Texas

Parmer County sits way up in the Texas Panhandle. It’s flat as a pancake up here. The wind never stops blowing. Farming is the lifeblood. Lots of center-pivot irrigation systems.
Friona calls itself the “Cheeseburger Capital of Texas.” They’ve got a festival to prove it. Bovina is the only other town. It’s tiny. But the county seat belongs to Farwell.
The county is named after Martin Parmer, a Texas Revolution hero. On Friday nights, the whole county shows up for football. The rest of the time, it’s pretty quiet out here.
