Polk County, Missouri

Polk County is right in the heart of the Ozarks. It’s located in southwest Missouri, not too far from Springfield. Bolivar’s the biggest town. It’s home to Southwest Baptist University.
This place is all about outdoor fun. Stockton Lake is a big draw. People come from all over to fish, boat, and camp. Pomme de Terre Lake is here. And no, it’s not a lake of potatoes (“Pomme de terre” means “potato” in French).
The county’s got some quirky history. Back in the day, it was known for its apple orchards. Now it’s more about cattle ranching. The locals are friendly. It’s just a nice place to be.
