US Counties

Glasscock County is one of the least populous counties in Texas, right in the middle of West Texas oil country. Garden City is the only town.

History echoes in Goliad County. It’s in South Texas, near the Gulf Coast. Goliad State Park is a great place to soak in all that history.

Gonzales County is in Central Texas near San Antonio and Houston. The county seat, also called Gonzales, is full of historic buildings.

Gray County is up in the Texas Panhandle. Pampa is the biggest town, known as the “Energy Capital” thanks to all the oil and gas.

Grayson County is just north of Dallas. The county seat, Sherman, has a downtown that’s perfect for a weekend stroll. Lake Texoma is here.

Gregg County sits in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Longview is the county seat and is known for its Great Texas Balloon Race.

The Brazos River Valley is home to Grimes County. It’s right between Houston and College Station. Anderson is the county seat.

Guadalupe County is just east of San Antonio. It’s where the blackland prairies meet the Texas Hill Country. Seguin is the county seat.

Hale County stretches across the Texas High Plains. Plainview, the county seat, sits about halfway between Lubbock and Amarillo.

Hall County is just east from Amarillo. It’s part of the Texas Panhandle, near the Oklahoma border. Memphis is the county seat.

Hamilton County lies in the heart of Central Texas. It’s hill country, with rugged terrain. The county seat is also named Hamilton.

Hansford County is up in the northern tip of the Texas Panhandle. Spearman, the county seat, is just about 30 miles from the Oklahoma border.

Hardeman County sits right on the Texas-Oklahoma border. The Red River forms the county’s northern border, a popular spot for fishing.

Hardin County is deep in the Big Thicket of Southeast Texas. It’s where pine forests meet swampy bayous. Kountze is the county seat.

Houston, we have a county. Harris County is the most populous county in Texas, home to over 4.8 million people.
