Wayne County is right up against New York and New Jersey in northeast Pennsylvania. It’s mostly rural here, with lots of forests and farms. The Delaware River forms the eastern edge of Wayne County.
Honesdale is the county seat and claims to be the birthplace of the American Railroad. Pocono Mountains tourism spills over into the southern part of the county.
Summers bring an influx of visitors to places like Lake Wallenpaupack. The leaves are gorgeous in autumn. Winters can be harsh, but there’s plenty of skiing nearby. It’s the kind of place where you might spot a bald eagle soaring overhead.
