Bedford County stretches across south-central Pennsylvania, bordering Maryland. It’s part of the Allegheny Mountain region, with plenty of forests and ridges.
Visitors love this place because of its covered bridges, old forts, and recreated colonial village. The Lincoln Highway, one of America’s first coast-to-coast roads, runs right through it.
The county seat is Bedford, which is famous for its mineral springs. People have been coming here to “take the waters” for centuries. Farming is still important to the local economy. You’ll see lots of dairy cows and corn fields as you drive around.
