Wharton County, Texas

Wharton County sits in the coastal plains of Southeast Texas, about an hour southwest of Houston. It’s farm country with lots of rice fields. Cattle graze lazily in the pastures.
The Colorado River cuts through, feeding the fertile soil. Wharton, the county seat, has a fun downtown with some beautiful old buildings. But El Campo is the largest city.
Oil and gas have brought some wealth too. But agriculture is still king here. The people are down-to-earth and friendly. You’ll find some of the best BBQ and Tex-Mex around these parts.
