Wise County, Texas

Wise County sits just northwest of Fort Worth. It’s where the West begins, they say. Decatur, the county seat, has a courthouse that’ll take your breath away.
The LBJ National Grasslands cover a big chunk of the county. It’s a haven for hikers and horseback riders. The growth from DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) is creeping in. New housing developments are popping up like prairie dogs.
But there’s still plenty of wide-open spaces. Ranching is big business. So is gas drilling. The people here are proud of their cowboy heritage. They’re not about to let it fade away.
