Wood County, Texas

Wood County is a little piece of heaven in East Texas. It’s lake country. Lake Fork is world-renowned for bass fishing. Quitman is the county seat, located just east of this massive lake.
The Mineola Nature Preserve is full of wildlife. Plus, it has miles of trails, and the wildlife viewing is top-notch. The railroad played a big role in the county’s history. You can still see that influence today.
There’s a strong arts scene here. Lots of galleries and boutiques. The piney woods give the air a fresh, clean scent. Fall colors are spectacular. This county is a popular spot for retirees. But there’s plenty to do for all ages.
