Arkansas Counties

Craighead County is located in northeast Arkansas. It’s home to Jonesboro, which is the fifth-largest city in the state.

Crawford County stretches along the Oklahoma border in western Arkansas. Van Buren is the county seat, and has a historic district.

Crittenden County sits right across the Mississippi River from Memphis, Tennessee. West Memphis is the largest city and transportation hub.

Cross County is located in northeastern Arkansas. Wynne, the county seat, is known as the “City with a Smile”.

Dallas County is situated in south-central Arkansas. It’s one of the least populous counties in the state with approximately 7,500 people.

Desha County hugs the Mississippi River in southeast Arkansas. It’s pure Delta country, with flatlands stretching far.

Drew County is in the southeastern part of Arkansas. The population is around 17,000, and timber and farming are still big industries here.

Faulkner County is located just north of Little Rock. It’s one of the fastest-growing counties in Arkansas with approximately 135,000 people. 

Franklin County straddles the Arkansas River Valley in western Arkansas. It has two county seats, which are Ozark and Charleston.

Fulton County sits in north-central Arkansas, deep in the Ozarks. Salem, the county seat, is a small town with a big heart.

Garland County is home to Hot Springs, one of Arkansas’s biggest tourist destinations. The county is famous for its thermal springs.

Grant County sits in central Arkansas, just south of Little Rock. The county is heavily forested, with timber being a major industry.

Greene County is in northeast Arkansas, part of the state’s agricultural heartland. Paragould is the county seat here.

Hempstead County is located in southwest Arkansas. Hope is the county seat. It’s famous for being the birthplace of President Bill Clinton.

Hot Spring County is located in central Arkansas. This is not to be confused with Hot Springs in Garland County.
