Greene County, Arkansas
Greene County is in northeast Arkansas, part of the state’s agricultural heartland. Paragould is the county seat here. It got its name from railroad magnates J.W. Paramore and Jay Gould.
Greene County offers some hilly terrain in the otherwise flat Delta. It has Crowley’s Ridge, which is an unusual geological formation that runs through the county. Lake Frierson State Park is a local favorite for fishing and picnicking.
The county is known for its agriculture, particularly rice and soybeans. Despite being primarily rural, Greene County has seen steady growth, with Paragould developing a downtown area.
