Cheyenne County, Nebraska

Cheyenne County sits way out in the Nebraska Panhandle, right up against the Colorado and Wyoming borders. Sidney is the county seat. Cabela’s, the outdoor retailer, started here.
The landscape here is classic High Plains: flat with the occasional bluff or creek to break things up. Farming and ranching are big here, but there’s also some oil and natural gas production.
It used to be a wild frontier town, but these days it’s a bit more tame. The county has some interesting history, including ties to the Pony Express and the transcontinental railroad. It’s a point of local pride.
