Clatsop County, Oregon

Clatsop County is perched on Oregon’s northwestern tip, bordering the state of Washington. It’s where Lewis and Clark finally glimpsed the Pacific. These days, it’s where Portlanders go to escape the rain… ironically, since it’s even wetter here.
Astoria is the county seat. It clings to steep hills overlooking the Columbia River. It’s a place where fishing boats and cruise ships share the same waters. The beach town of Seaside draws summer crowds, while Cannon Beach offers a more laid-back vibe.
Inland, the Clatsop State Forest provides a green playground for hikers, hunters, and mushroom foragers. Fort Stevens guards the Columbia’s mouth at the northeastern edge. Logging and fishing built this place, but tourism keeps the lights on these days.
