Cleveland County, Arkansas

In south-central Arkansas, Cleveland County is about as rural as it gets. Rison, the county seat, has fewer than 1,000 residents. U.S. Route 79 is the main highway here.
This is timber country, with vast pine forests dominating the landscape. The Moro Creek Bottoms Natural Area preserves a part of old-growth hardwood forest. Hunters flock here during deer season.
Despite its small size, Cleveland County has a few surprises up its sleeve. It has the annual Cleveland County Fair in Rison, which typically includes an exhibit hall, rodeo arena, and outdoor stage.
