Custer County is in south-central Colorado, tucked into the Wet Mountains. Westcliffe and Silver Cliff are the main towns, both old mining spots.
The Sangre de Cristo Mountains loom to the west, with stunning views. Tourism is growing, folks come for the scenery and outdoor stuff. There’s good hiking and camping in the national forest.
It’s pretty remote, only about 5,000 people in the whole county. There are lots of cattle on high mountain pastures. The area is known for its dark skies, great for stargazing.
