DeKalb County is a small section of rural America in northwest Missouri. You’ll find it about an hour north of Kansas City. Maysville, population 1,100, serves as the county seat.
Farming dominates the local economy. Corn, soybeans, and cattle are the main attractions. The landscape is mostly flat to gently rolling. It’s a pretty county, especially in fall when the leaves change.
Fishing is popular at Pony Express Lake. History fans get a kick out of the Pony Express connection. The entire county population is approximately 11,000 residents.
