Dolores County, Colorado

Dolores County is in southwest Colorado, tucked away in the mountains. It’s one of the least populated counties in the state, with only about 2,500 people.
Dove Creek is the county seat, known as the “Pinto Bean Capital of the World”. Farming includes beans and wheat. But ranching is still important, with cattle grazing on high meadows.
The Dolores River cuts through, creating some spectacular canyons. There’s a lot of public land, good for hunting and hiking. Rico, an old mining town, is trying to reinvent itself as a tourist spot. The area is pretty remote, with limited services.
