Elbert County, Colorado

Elbert Location Map Colorado

Elbert County is on Colorado’s eastern plains, just southeast of Denver. It’s mostly rural, with rolling grasslands and scattered ranches. Kiowa is the county seat, but it’s still a small town.

The county has been growing as Denver expands. New subdivisions are always popping up. Ranching is still big here, lots of horses and cattle.

There’s a strong “cowboy culture” vibe in this county. The population is around 28,000 and climbing. You can see the mountains to the west on clear days.
