Ellsworth County, Kansas

In the middle of Kansas, Ellsworth County is pure prairie with a population just shy of 6,000. The town of Ellsworth used to be a wild cowtown, now it’s all about that laid-back country life.
Kanopolis Lake in the southwest part of the county is the big draw. Come here for boating and fishing. There’s also Kanopolis State Park that surrounds the lake.
Visitors get a kick out of the old Fort Harker guardhouse. If you’re passing through in July, the Cowtown Days festival is a hoot. Think rodeo meets street dance. For a weird photo op, there’s a giant Czech egg in Wilson. Yeah, you read that right.
