Chautauqua County, Kansas

Chautauqua Location Map Kansas

Chautauqua County hunkers down in the southeast corner of Kansas, with the Caney River running through it. Only about 3,500 people live here, so it’s about as rural as it gets.

Sedan, the county seat, is known for its yellow brick road. Yes, really. They have over 10,000 personalized bricks making up their main street.

The Little House on the Prairie site is nearby to the east. This is where Laura Ingalls Wilder once lived. If you’re into fishing, Sedan City Lake is the place to be. There are tons of festivals that bring out the whole county for some small-town fun.
