Chase County, Kansas
Right in the heart of the Flint Hills, Chase County is where you go to see what Kansas looked like before everyone showed up. It’s home to only about 2,500 people.
But it’s a whole lot of prairie. The Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is the star of the show. It’s one of the last places to see honest-to-goodness tallgrass prairie.
Strong City hosts the Flint Hills Rodeo every June, which is the oldest consecutive rodeo in Kansas. Chase County might not be on everyone’s radar, but that’s kinda what makes it special.
