Harvey County, Kansas
Harvey County is right in the heart of Kansas, just north of Wichita. Newton’s the county seat, a town with a rich railroad history. You can still hear the trains rumbling through day and night.
The county is a mix of urban and rural with farmland stretching out in all directions. The Little Arkansas River winds its way through, providing some green relief in the hot summers.
Mennonite heritage runs deep here so you’ll find some great German cuisine as a result. Bethel College in North Newton adds a touch of academia to the area. There’s also Sand Creek Station Golf Course, which is a links-style course that’ll make you feel like you’re in Scotland, not Kansas.
