Iron County, Missouri

Deep in the heart of the Ozarks, you’ll find Iron County. It’s a small place, but don’t let that fool you. The county’s named after the iron ore deposits that once made it an important mining hub.
These days, it’s all about outdoor recreation. Hikers and campers come here to Mark Twain National Forest, located in the northwest.
The Black River is a kayaker’s paradise. Arcadia Valley, nestled between three mountains, is the cultural center of the county. Ironton, the county seat, has a quaint small-town vibe.
