Kiowa County, Kansas
Kiowa County is in south-central Kansas. Greensburg is the county seat. It got famous for being totally wiped out by a tornado in 2007 and then rebuilding as a “green” town.
It’s mostly flat farmland. Hunting is popular. The Big Well in Greensburg is worth a look. It’s the largest hand-dug well in the world.
U.S. Highway 54 runs through the county. This makes it easy to access from Wichita or Dodge City. With a population of around 2,500, Kiowa County is small but mighty.
