Pike County sits in southeast Alabama. The population is around 34,000 with U.S. Highway 29 and 231 running through it. Troy is the county’s largest city with about 33,000 residents. Troy University lends a collegiate atmosphere to the area.

The county is named after General Zebulon Pike. He was an explorer and military officer known for his expedition to the American Southwest, including the discovery of Pikes Peak.
