Saline County, Illinois
Saline County is in southeastern Illinois, not far from the Kentucky border. Harrisburg is the county seat and the biggest town around here. These days, agriculture’s taken over as the main economic driver.
The Shawnee National Forest spills into the southern part of the county. Hikers and campers love it. Glen O. Jones Lake is popular for fishing and boating. And of course, relaxing too.
Harrisburg has a nice downtown with some nice local shops. But like a lot of small Illinois towns, it’s weathering tough times economically. Saline County isn’t flashy, but it’s where family roots run deep and traditions matter.
