Texas County, Missouri

Don’t let the name fool you. This isn’t the Lone Star State. Texas County sits in the middle of southern Missouri, and it’s a place that marches to its own beat.
It’s big. Really big. In fact, it’s the largest county in the state by area. The rolling Ozark hills give way to vast forests and winding rivers. Houston is the county seat. Again, it’s not Texas!
You’ll find some of the friendliest folks around here. The county’s a paradise for outdoors with hiking, fishing, hunting. The area’s rich history is on full display in places like the Texas County Museum. Not Texas.
