Burnet County, Texas

They call this place the “Highland Lakes” for good reason. Burnet County is home to some of the prettiest lakes in Texas. It’s in the Hill Country, about an hour northwest of Austin.
Marble Falls is the biggest town, a great spot for a weekend getaway. The bluebonnets here in spring are unreal. Longhorn Cavern State Park is worth a visit and so is the historic Fort Croghan.
Summers are hot, but the lakes help cool things down. There’s a nice mix of old-timers and newcomers. The Highland Lakes Air Museum is a hidden gem. Overall, Burnet County is a beautiful place to live or visit.
