Carbon County, Wyoming

Carbon County sprawls across south-central Wyoming. It’s actually bigger than some states. I’m looking at you Rhode Island. The landscape is diverse. You’ve got sagebrush flats, red rock formations, and forested mountains.
Fishing here is top-notch. Rawlins, the county seat, has a gritty, frontier feel. The old Wyoming State Penitentiary there is worth a visit.
Wind is a constant presence. Those spinning turbines you see everywhere are putting it to good use. Ranching is still a way of life for many. But tourism is growing. People come for the wide-open spaces and starry skies.
