Jackson County, Colorado
Jackson County is up in north-central Colorado, high in the mountains. It’s mostly made up of North Park, a wide, high-altitude valley. Walden is the only real town, small and remote. It’s also the county seat.
Ranching is still the main business here, with hay and cattle. The county is ringed by mountains, including the Medicine Bow Range. There’s tons of wildlife. That’s why it’s known as the “Moose Viewing Capital of Colorado”.
The population is tiny, less than 1,300 people. Unfortunately, it hasn’t changed much in years. Hunting and fishing bring in visitors, especially in fall.
