Carlisle County is in far western Kentucky, part of the Jackson Purchase region. It’s the fourth least populous county in the state, with only about 5,000 residents.
Bardwell is the county seat. As you could probably guess, farming is big here. They grow lots of corn, soybeans, and wheat.
The county’s named after John G. Carlisle, a Kentucky politician. If you’re passing through, check out the courthouse. The Mississippi River forms the western border. Carlisle may be small in terms of population, but it’s big on heart.
