Georgia Counties

Bulloch County is in southeast Georgia near Savannah. Statesboro is the county seat, a college town that holds Georgia Southern University.

Burke County is southeast of Atlanta. It’s a big, sprawling place, one of Georgia’s largest counties by area. Waynesboro is the county seat.

Sitting just southeast of Atlanta, Butts County is close enough for big city amenities. Jackson serves as the county seat.

Calhoun County is a small, rural county in southwest Georgia named after John C. Calhoun. Morgan serves as the county seat, located centrally.

Camden County stretches across Georgia’s southeast corner, hugging the Florida border. It has a chunk of Cumberland Island National Seashore.

Candler County is in the east-central part of Georgia. Metter is the county seat, a town that claims to be “Everything’s Better in Metter”.

Carroll County is in west Georgia, right on the Alabama line. Carrollton is the county seat, home to the University of West Georgia.

Catoosa County is tucked up in Georgia’s northwest corner. The county is wedged next to Chattanooga, giving it a unique Tennessee vibe.

As one of Georgia’s southernmost counties, Charlton County stretches along the Florida border. Folkston serves as the county seat.

If you want a taste of coastal Georgia, Chatham County is where it’s at. Savannah is the heart of it all, a city dripping with history.

Chattahoochee County is one of Georgia’s smallest counties. Cusseta serves as the county seat. The county is basically one big military base.

Chattooga County is in northwest Georgia, right up against the Alabama border line. Summerville serves as the county seat. 

Cherokee County is north of Atlanta where the suburbs meet the North Georgia mountains. Canton is the county seat, a growing town.

Clarke County is a different breed of Georgia county. It’s small, urban, and proud of it. Athens is a college town with a top music scene.

Clay County is tucked away in southwest Georgia, right on the Alabama border. Fort Gaines serves as the county seat.
